BETWEEN THE LINES

“Between the Lines” is a Masterstudio group publication and exhibition based on a twelve-day excursion to Belfast in April 2017. Northern Ireland’s capital has been shaped by centuries of sectarian and nationalist conflict, the most recent being “The Troubles.” The remnants of this conflict are still most visible in contemporary West Belfast.

Despite its troubled past, Belfast’s economy has experienced sustained growth since the Good Friday Agreement of 1998. The works presented in this publication and exhibition explore various aspects of everyday life affected by the conflict, as well as facets of cultural and modern life in the city. This publication aims to reflect our experiences and observations as we explored the city and engaged with its people.
