As an extension of the photography project Yizhuang, this publication and exhibition further explore a village on the verge of disappearance—its people, stories, and hidden corners, all destined to become fragments of memory.

In the publication, I incorporated semi-transparent pages to serve as text inserts, narrating the stories and emotions behind the photographs. The black text is printed on translucent tracing paper, subtly revealing the image on the next page. This layering effect adds a sense of fading, symbolizing the gradual disappearance of Yizhuang. Since the book unfolds through sequential page-turning, I applied the same concept to the exhibition by suspending the photographs in the center of the gallery. Visitors navigate between the images, much like walking through the narrow alleys of Yizhuang, closely observing the villagers’ lives.

Through an interplay of overlapping layers, the story of Yizhuang gradually unfolds—only to inevitably fade away, leaving behind nothing but memories.
